Platania is on the southern tip of the Pelion peninsular (60km from Volos) looking out towards the north eastern tip of the Island of Evia across the Trikeri channel. The picturesque village is at the bottom of a valley and has a harbour for local fisherman and a pier (mole) suitable for mooring or yachts can anchor in the bay.
The Cottage. At the head of a beautiful valley is where you will find this lovingly restored farm cottage. The cottage was formerly a simple home, with olive store and animal shelter and now it is a peaceful countryside holiday paradise with extensive rural and sea views. Only 5 minutes by car from Platania, with its harbour side tavernas and sandy beaches.
You can relax and explore amongst 3 acres of beautiful gardens with olive grove, fruit orchard, woodlands and the ‘aloni’ an old fashioned stone threshing floor. We have a fresh water spring (supplying our drinking water) streams, pools and a waterfall with abundant wildlife.
There are extensive old stone footpaths and earth roads nearby for wonderful walks with amazing views. We are on the local bus route, but car hire is also recommended.
Accommodation The cottage has two large double bedrooms (sleeps 4 double plus single bed in each), kitchen, bathroom and large living room with built-in bed settees for a further 2 persons if required (extra charge). It is simply furnished and well equipped. It has a wood burning stove for cosy winter nights and is suitable for year round holiday use. This is the place from which to explore Pelion in all the seasons.
The British owners home is only 70 metres away but you will enjoy perfect seclusion in your cottage. They are happy to help and advise you as required to plan your perfect ‘away from it all’ holiday. The owners enjoy taking visitors on their small sailing boat (a Cape Cutter 19). They make no charge for this and will normally be happy to do so at some time during your stay if it is possible and convenient.
