MIXit Sailing Yacht Services are dedicated to serving private boats that are either visiting or staying in the Magnesia (Volos, Pelion, Northern Sporades) region of Greece for extended periods of time. We provide a unique service for boat owners who wish to have their vessels maintained and managed by a competent local company.
Whether you need project management for major work or just would like the ease of stepping onto your boat to find everything ready for your departure, we can do it all.

Yacht Wintering Checklist
Prepare for hoist checklist:
Sails washed and removed. Check & take to sail maker as required |
Furling gear sluiced with fresh water |
Sheets and running rigging removed and halyards moused |
Fuel tank topped up |
Water tanks emptied* |
Gas bottles and petrol containers removed or stored safely |
Engine service (see below)|
Make visual inspection of everything and prepare work list |
(Hull, deck, stanchions, cleats, rigging, masthead and check for engine problems).
Pre hoist checklist:
Loose items lashes down |
Transducers removed if necessary |
Bilges pumped and bilge pump switched off |
Cradle adjusted and made ready |
Blocks of wood & tools ready.
Standing checklist:
Pressure wash hull below the waterline |
Pressure wash topside and hull |
Fenders cleaned and stowed |
Raw water cooling system flushed (run engine with fresh water through raw system) |
Batteries removed or connected to trickle charger (chk levels & grease terminals)** |
Flush, exercise, lubricate seacocks as required |
All soft furnishings removed and stored |
Ensure good ventilation or use heater / dehumidifier rigged as required |
Covers fitted |
Moving parts protected from corrosion, remove if possible & WD40 & store |
Service all toilets, flush through, remove, clean & scrub, cover in Vaseline*** |
Check & protect windows & deck glands (Vaseline or cover)|
Clean the bilge |
Prepare the rigging for winter**** |
Dump the anchor & chain |
Keep pests out animal & human |
Engine Servicing (best done before hoist)
Replace fuel filter and bleed the fuel line from tank(s) |
Either replace or top up freshwater coolant with 50/50 water to antifreeze mix |
Clean raw-water inlet filter |
Check raw-water pump impeller, lubricate & replace if necessary |
Flush raw-water system with 50/50 mix |
Drain & replace both engine and gearbox oil. Fit new oil filter |
Check belt tension and adjust as required – usually 10mm max play.
Water Tanks*
Empty tanks and pipwork | Treat remaining water (last 30lt) with a steriliser | On return fill entire system with steriliser for 2-12hrs before flushing through.
Batteries**
Residual voltage should be 12.4v (100Ah Batteries) 12hrs after charge 12.8V.
Holding Tank***
Fill the holding tank with fresh soapy water, ideally warmed, then either allow it to drain out or pump it out.
Rigging Checks****
Remove all sails & sail covers | Don’t slacken the standing rigging | Remove gas kickers and stand vertically | Secure, detach boom | Secure headstay/foil | Clean, lubricate headstay & inmast furling systems | Remove halyards, ropes and replace with draw lines, wash with fresh water at low temp | Halyards left in-mast can be attached to a retrieving tail and hoisted to masthead | Remove masthead equipment and cover if possible.
